Bucky Sebastian To Head National CU Foundation

WASHINGTON – The National CU Foundation, the leading charity for credit unions, named long-time industry figure Wendell “Bucky” Sebastian as its executive director.

Sebastian, who left GTE FCU in Tampa at year end, is a well-known figure in the credit union movement, having served as executive director and general counsel at NCUA under Ed Callahan from 1981 to 1985, then helping Callahan found Callahan & Associates after the two left NCUA, before going to Florida to build GTE FCU into one of the biggest credit unions in the state.

As executive director, Sebastian will manage the Foundation's eight-member staff, cultivate and maintain relationships with the credit union system's donor constituency, seek grants for program priorities, and foster initiatives that further the NCUF's development goals. He will be based in the Foundation's Washington, D.C., office.

Sebastian will start work at the Foundation on June 14.
