CAPFCU Wins A 'Welcome Home'

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati has awarded a $50,000 "Welcome Home" award to the Berea, Ky.-based Central Appalachian Peoples FCU (CAPFCU). This is the second year the credit union has won the award, following the $37,500 grant last year. The funding is aimed at low-and moderate-income homebuyers with down payments and closing costs. The $10-million CAPFCU is a CDCU that serves a primarily low-income, rural area of central Kentucky, along with areas of Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia, and indicated it hopes to assist up to 100 people in moving into their own homes over the next year.
