KIMBERLY, Wis. – In a breakthrough for credit unions, Capital CU yesterday announced it has partnered with the state Division of Motor Vehicles to accept vehicle registration renewals at all of its local branches.
The credit union will charge consumers a $6 service fee.
Renewals will be accepted for car, truck and motorcycle registrations.
Gas prices are rising as a large swath of consumers are already under pressure, which could eventually affect demand for credit.
The share of American households considered "financially vulnerable" rose to 17%, the highest level since at least 2018, according to the nonprofit Financial Health Network.
