Cash Carrier Charged In $26,000 ATM Theft

YORKVILLE, N.Y. – A former employee of Loomis Fargo was accused yesterday of stealing $26,000 he was supposed to be loading into an Americu CU ATM last month.

David A. Thurston, 30, delivered cash on Jan. 21 to the Americu CU branch in Whitestown, a suburb of Utica, police said.

While Thurston was loading the ATM he allegedly took about $26,000 in $20 bills, according to police. The driver remained in the vehicle and had nothing to do with the incident.

Thurston was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.
