WASHINGTON – In an idea modeled after the Peace Corps, the volunteer youth brigade helping develop third world countries, the National Federation of CDCUs said yesterday it has created a CU Development Corps to assist community development credit unions. Initially the Development Corps will be made up of CU development Educators and the Federation’s network of 220 CDCUs. Des will visit CDCUs for up to two weeks and will have the opportunity to learn and to offer their expertise to help serve low-income members at CDCUs. Support for the program was provided by the Ford Foundation, a major benefactor of the Federation, and CUNA Mutual Group.
