Centenarian Marks 50 Years Of Volunteering At Pittsburgh Firefighter’s FCU

PITTSBURGH – Fred Steinkirchner, a retired Pittsburgh fire chief who is about to celebrate his 100th birthday, was recently recognized for his 50 years of volunteer service at Pittsburgh Firefighter’s FCU.

Steinkirchner, who will be 100 on Sept. 5, joined the credit union when he was 26 in 1938, as the credit union was just three years old. In 1962, he joined the supervisory committee and served on that committee until 1984. In 1970, he was appointed to the credit union’s board of directors, and continues to serve on the Board.
