ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA on Tuesday barred the former CEO of Florida A&M FCU from credit unions for conspiring with a university think tank manager to steal $134,000 in federal grant money deposited in the credit union.
Eugene Telfair was convicted of conspiracy to steal or misapplying funds from an organization that receives federal assistance and ordered to repay the $134,000 to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Telfair was convicted with Robert Nixon, the former director of Florida A&M University’s Institute on Urban Policy and Commerce. The two administrators were found guilty of stealing and covering up the theft of federal grant money given to FAMU for small business loans and each was sentenced to two years in prison.
NCUA banned Billie Jean Collins, a former employee at Windward Community FCU, for stealing $65,000 from the Kailua, Hawaii, credit union.
Also banned was Glenna Gouza, a former employee at USX FCU, for stealing $4,000 from the Sarver, Penn., credit union.
