CEO of Shipbuilders Credit Union in Wisconsin to retire

Mike Steimle, longtime president and CEO of Shipbuilders Credit Union in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is set to retire.

The $113 million-asset credit union announced Wednesday that Steimle, who joined Shipbuilders in January 2000, will step down as chief executive but remain with Shipbuilders during the transition period. Steimle’s successor has yet to be publicly announced.

Steimle said in a video accompanying a news release that what he was "most proud of" during his tenure was that "we put together a team that got along well and did what it took to get the job done and serve members.”

The credit union was Founded in 1938 to provide financial services to employees of the Manitowoc Co. It now serves more than 10,000 members.

“At some point, you know when it’s time to retire and I know that it’s time to get some new blood in here … this will be really good for the credit union,” Steimle said in the video.
