CFPB Names 8 New Members To CU Advisory Council

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced it has appointed new consumer finance experts from outside the federal government to its Credit Union Advisory Council.

The council provides the bureau with information related to the regulation of financial products and services, and how they will affect credit unions.

Each new member of the CU Advisory Council will a serve two-year term.

The new members comprise:

*Gail L. DeBoer, president and chief executive officer at SAC FCU ($775 million in assets; based in Papillion, Neb.).

*Robert C. Donley, EVP at Members CU ($268 million; Winston-Salem, N.C.).

*Gregory W. Higgins, SVP-general counsel at Wings Financial CU ($4.2 billion; Saint Paul, Minn.).

*Maria A. LaVelle, chief executive officer at Westmoreland Community FCU ($69 million; Greensburg, Pa.).

*Carrie L. O'Connor, SVP-lending and operations at Community America CU ($2 billion, Lenexa, Kan.).

*Thomas J. O'Shea, president and chief executive officer at Aspire FCU ($183 million; Clark, N.J.)

*Katey Proefke, AVP of compliance at Chevron FCU ($2.7 billion; Oakland, Cal.).

*James E. Spradlin, president and chief executive officer at Park Community CU ($745 million; Louisville, Ky.)
