GROTON, Conn. – The Waterford Planning and Zoning Commission approved an application from Charter Oak FCU to build a new, 60,000-square foot, $16-million corporate headquarters at 1055 Hartford Turnpike.
The credit union is planning to move its corporate headquarters from Groton to Waterford. The site at the corner of Industrial Drive and Hartford Turnpike will be another branch. The credit union will continue to run its branch at 32 Chicago Avenue in Groton, but it no longer will hold Charter Oak’s corporate offices.
The $731-million credit union, chartered to serve employees of submarine builders Electric Boat, expects to break ground on the project in the fall. Construction is expected to take up to 14 months.
