ATLANTA - (06/25/04) -- Electronic bill payment serviceCheckFree Corp. said it has completed the acquisition of AmericanPayment Systems, Inc., the Hartford, Ct.-based operator of anetwork of 10,000 walk-in bill payment centers. CheckFree paid $10million American Payment, a wholly owned unit of Connecticututility UIL Holdings Corp. The acquisition is expected to expandCheckFree's bill payment processing by 24% to more than 625 millionpayments a year.
