CheckFree Has Strong Quarter

ATLANTA - (10/27/05) -- Electronic biller CheckFree Corp.reported Wednesday that profits for its fiscal first quarter endedSept. 30 quadrupled to $26.3 million, or 28 cents a share, comparedto the same quarter last year, based on a 21% rise in revenues, to$215.8 million. The company said its core electronic billingbusiness continue to grow, with processing of transactionsexpanding by 9% from the fourth quarter, and the delivery ofelectronic bills rising 4% from the fourth quarter. The companyalso reported strong growth in its investment servicesoperations.
