CheckFree Seeks More Time for Antitrust Bid in Corillian Takeover

ATLANTA – CheckFree Corp. said Friday it has withdrawn and re-filed its pre-merger notification for its proposed takeover of Corillian Corp. in order to give federal regulators more time to conduct its antitrust review of the deal. CheckFree still expects the deal to close in its second quarter, however the timing may be affected by requests for more information from either the Federal Trade Commission or the U.S. Justice Department. CheckFree, the leading provider of electronic bill payment and presentment services, has agreed to acquire Corillian for $5 a share, or $245 million. CheckFree recently completed the acquisition of Carekker Corp. for $180 million.
