CHROME Selects SmartCore to Help Reach $500M in Assets

CHROME Federal Credit Union in Washington, Pa., has selected SmartCore by NYMBUS as its new core banking platform to help reach a financial milestone.

The credit union said in a press release Wednesday that it selected SmartCore to deliver modern digital services — including online and mobile banking, lending and remote deposit capture — to its more than 18,000 customers nationwide. Moreover, SmartCore integrates with Chrome's third-party partners Geezeo, MeridianLink, Zendesk.

CHROME is currently transforming its business model to a digital-first credit union and plans to reach $500 million in assets by 2020.

Christopher George, president and chief executive of CHROME, said that a critical pillar of the credit union's transformation is redesigning the digital experience for customers.

"The role of the branch and digital services is reversing, and we needed a trusted partner that shares our vision, creativity and urgency," George said in the release. "NYMBUS' core banking platform is years ahead of the legacy vendors that have traditionally owned the market."

In October, the $170 million-asset CHROME acquired $35 million-asset Pittsburgh Central Federal Credit Union, a deal that gave the credit union 5,700 new members, 10 new employees and a new location in Allegheny County, Pa.
