Citigroup Plans Mobile Service

Citigroup officials say they will launch a new service that will allow customers to locate ATMs, bank branches or check account balances by using their cellular phones. The free service will start in the first half of 2006 and will also be capable of transferring funds, bill paying and checking a credit card balance.

Other banks, most notably Bank of America, have introduced similar services. B of A launched a service in Brazil in 2005 that allowed citizens to take advantage of the country's extensive use of cell phones for everyday tasks.
