Coastal Unveils Express Teller System

RALEIGH, N.C.-Coastal FCU is rolling out its new Express Teller system at two of its branches in the Triangle region. The St. Albans Drive and Wakefield Commons locations will be able to use the new interface that gives tellers the ability to provide traditional services to multiple branches.

"Through new technology, one teller can help members in multiple locations, and we can instantly allocate teller resources to match branch traffic," CEO Larry Wilson pointed out. "That means the system will allow us to serve members faster, handling peaks in branch activity more effectively."

Tellers will now be stationed at a single location and provide remote services at the two branches and could be doing the same for up to eight more in the next 12 months, the credit union said. Members will be afforded extended hours at the Wakefield branch because of the new technology; as of Jan. 31 the service is available from 7a.m. to 7p.m. there.

Coastal FCU also expects service levels to increase because tellers on the new system will work from the $2.1 billion institution's Express Teller Center headquarters. Those staffers are expected to be "more highly trained and empowered than traditional tellers," the credit union said.
