LOMPOC, Calif. – The CoastHills FCU Community Foundation's second annual fundraiser raised $25,000 for the foodbanks of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, which will be used to support their respective backpack programs. The foodbank programs are targeted at alleviating hunger and poor nutrition for “food insecure” children who participate in school lunch programs throughout the Central Coast. The backpack program ensures that nutritious food, rather than hunger, becomes a regular part of a child's daily life.
