Coinstar Reports Lower Earnings

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Coinstar, maker of change counting machines, said Friday that net income for its fourth quarter declined 9% to $5 million, or 18 cents, as cost increases outpaced revenue growth. Revenues rose a strong 10% for the fourth quarter, to $138 million. For the full year, Coinstar reported a 16% increase in revenues to $534.4 million, but a 16% drop in profits, to $18.6 million, or 66 cents a share, compared to fiscal 2005.
