Community First CU Of Florida To Shutter Two Branches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Community First CU of Florida, struggling with big losses the past two years, last week announced it is closing two branches.

The $1.1 billion credit union said it is shutting its branches in Callahan and Fernandina Beach June 30.

“These changes are designed to position us for future success in serving our members in Nassau County and the greater Jacksonville area,” said John Hirabayashi, president of Community First.

The credit union reported a $1.7 million loss for the first quarter of 2010, and a loss of $8.3 million for 2009.
