Langley FCU, Newport News, Va., kicked off a fundraiser for the Honor Flight Network at the CU's 74th annual meeting. The goal is to raise $20,000 to sponsor an entire Honor Flight trip of three bus loads of local World War II veterans to see the WWII Memorial in Washington.

Belvoir FCU, Woodbridge, Va., participated in the National Youth Saving Challenge during National Credit Union Youth week, encouraging more than 300 members to make a savings deposit-nearly $100,000 worth-in one week.

 

Dow Chemical Employees CU, Midland, Mich., was named one of United Way of Midland County's 2010 "Companies That care."

 

Ent FCU, Colorado Springs, Colo., selected a number of organizations to receive its Youth Endowment Series grants for 2010, including: American Legaion Colorado Boys State, Denver Children's Advocacy Center, Town of Firestone Scholarship Program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters-Pikes Peak Region, Child Nursery Centers, Children's ARK, Colorado Springs Teen Court, Fostering Hope Foundation, Pikes Peak Community Action Agency, Pikes Peak Prep, Salvation Army, Special Kids/Special Families, TESSA, Urban Peak Colorado Spring, Assistance League of Pueblo, Boy & Girls Club of Pueblo County, CASA of Pueblo, Habitat for Humanity of Pueblo, Posada, Soroaing Eagles Center for Autism, United Way of Pueblo, YMCA of Pueblo.

 

Dane County CU, Madison, Wis., teamed up with the YWCA to provide financial education to families who are now renters or are having difficulty maintaining housing through the Second Chance Program.

 

Advancial FCU, Oklahoma City, has opened a full-service branch on the Chesapeake Energy campus.

 

Del-One FCU, Dover, Del., recently surpassed $250 million in assets. The 30,000 member-strong institution hit the milestone nearly 50 years after group of state highway workers pooled their savings together to create Delaware Highway FCU. The CU said its accomplishment marks a "sign of the credit union's strength and stability during a time of economic struggle."
