Community One FCU Overhauls Checking Account, Offering Three Tiers

The $160-million Community One Federal Credit Union has introduced a new Lifestyle Checking account that comes with three tiers. The account-holder will never be charged teller or phone service fees with any of the new Lifestyle checking accounts, the credit union said. Tier One is the "Express Account," which has no minimum balance, no monthly service charge, and a free VISA debit/ATM card. If the member opts to receive e-statements rather than paper statements, bill payment will be provided at no charge.

Tier Two is "The Community One Account," has no minimum balance but does charge a minimum monthly fee. A box of checks is included free, as is a VISA Photo Debit card and bill payment at no cost.

Tier Three is the "Platinum Account," which carries a $1,000 minimum, is interest-bearing, and offers free checks, travelers' checks, a VISA Photo Debit Card and bill payment.

All members have access to surcharge-free ATMs through the CO-OP Network, including 90 such free ATMs in the credit union's home county.
