Lowrey Shaves Mustache For CMN

MADISON, Wis.-Dane County Credit Union Vice President of Lending, Jon Lowrey, agreed to shave off his 29- year mustache if the staff of the credit union raised $500 for the Children's Miracle Network. The staff exceeded its goal and raised a total of $2,700 for CMN.

ANKENY, Iowa-Deere Community Credit Union employees raised more than $200 for the Children's Miracle Network through its Kiss the Cow fundraiser. Employees paid a dollar to vote for a co-worker to kiss a cow at Craig Griffieon's farm.

NCU Holds Bank At School Program

COUNTRYSIDE, Ill.-NuMark Credit Union held its first Bank at School Financial Assistant Training Program with four students from George Washington Middle School. The students learned the basic functions of each department at the credit union, and were administered teller training.

MFFCU Offers Zero Points

MECHANICSBURG, Penn.-Members 1st Federal Credit Union is offering student loans with zero points. Additional benefits of the loans are that students will receive an interest rate reduction after 48 consecutive on-time payments, and an interest rate reduction of their origination fee.

MACU Breaks Ground For New HQ

SALT LAKE CITY-Mountain American Credit Union broke ground for a new corporate headquarters site at Jordan Landing. The 100,000-square-foot building is expected to be completed in the fall of 2003.

PSCU Pledges $100,000 To PCPFCU

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-Pacific Service Credit Union renewed a $100,000 certificate of deposit at the People's Community Partnership Federal Credit Union in Oakland. For one year, PCPFCU will use the pledge to reach out to individuals and families who do not have banking relationships.

WCU Helps Beautify Fitchburg

FITCHBURG, Mass.-A team from Workers' Credit Union ascended on Wanoosnoc Road to do their part for the city's clean sweep initiative. The team picked up yard debris and litter and swept sidewalks and curbs.

In additional news, the Workers' CU sponsored Students for Books drive. Students from Athol-Royalston Middle School collected new and used children's picture, chapter, and informational books which were distributed to children and families in the community.

U of C FCU Awards 20 Scholarships

BOULDER-Colo.-Twenty students were honored with grants totaling $20,750 through the U of C Federal Credit Union's annual scholarship program. This year M.R. Hellies scholarship winners are: Graciela Breece-Rodriguez, Alison Chiu, Samantha Tolve, Laura Garcia, Kathryn Gomer, Chris Bunch, and Aurora Segal. Winners of the Volunteers in Action Awards are: Laurel Butler, Mark Mayer, Tamara Mack, Rachel Fuchs, Christene zhang, and Graciela Breece-Rodriguez. The Ray Johnson Scholarship recipients are: Lucia barbera, emily Ross, Anya Byers, Bradley Jones, Jennifer Gunther, Brian Neugebauer, and Alison Willam.

RCU Offers 2 Free Seminars

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.-RCU recently sponsored free seminars on Smart Money Management, and Building, Buying, or Adding Onto Your Home. The seminars were held at the RCU community Center at the CVTC main campus.

SAFCU Expands Its FOM

SAN ANTONIO, Texas-San Antonio Federal Credit Union received approval from NCUA to expand its FOM to the western half of San Antonio. The credit union already has 16 branches in greater San Antonio.
