MCU Holds Year-Long Food Drive

MIDDLETOWN, Conn.-Middlesex Credit Union kicked off a year-long food drive to benefit Middlesex County food banks. with the credit union staff participating in a walk to benefit the Connecticut Food Bank. The employees of Middlesex CU have set a goal of donating 11,500 non-perishable food items by the end of 2002.

SFCU Helps Hospital Pediatric Unit

MEDFORD, N.Y.-Suffolk Federal Credit Union sold terrycloth puppies for $5 to raise money for Southampton Hospital Children's Pediatrics Unit as part of the New York State Credit Union League's "Credit Unions Care for Kids" program.

CSCU Awards 5 Scholarships

LIVONIA, Mich.-Co-op Services Credit Union awarded a $4,000 renewable scholarship to Matthew Nielsen, $1,000 scholarships to Danielle Clinton and Lindsay Sgriccia, and $500 scholarships to Robyn Kuula and Courtney Busch.

Miracle Balloons Float Into Ohio CUs

TOLEDO, Ohio-Credit Unions across Ohio are raising money for the Children's Miracle Network through the sale of "miracle balloons' for $1, which are being suspended around the lobbies of credit unions.

WPCU Donates $77,466 To Fund

FAIRBORN, Ohio-Wright-Patt Credit Union presented a $77,466.65 check from the credit union's Stars & Stripes Recovery Fund to the United Way Sept. 11 Fund.

In additional news, Wright-Patt CU invited Sen. Steve Austria to tour the credit union's administrative headquarters for a first-hand look at the affordable financial services and benefits the credit union makes available to its membership.

GenFed Warms The Soles Of Kids

AKRON, Ohio-GenFed FCU members and employees donated $2,671 and 71 pairs of new shoes to the "Warm the Soles of Kids" program.

ECU Bowls For Kids Sake

AURORA, Ill.-Earthmover Credit Union employees participated in "Bowl for Kids Sake" which benefits Big Brothers and Big Sisters. A total of 18 employees bowled and collected $1,293 for the charity.

The following credit unions have announced new branch locations:

* Educational Employees Credit Union will open new branches in Hanford, Calif. on April 24th, and Clovis, in May.

* Heritage Credit Union, Galesburg, Ill., has moved to 1980 National Blvd.

* The River Valley Credit Union will open its fourth member service center in Springboro, Ohio, in May.

TCU Honors Long Time Members

NASHUA, N.H.-Triangle Credit Union honored 55 members with 50 years of membership or more. CEO Maurice Simard, Jr. acknowledged the group "as being the backbone of the credit union."

RVCU Expands Charter

MIAMISBURG, Ohio-The River Valley Credit Union received expanded charter from the Ohio Department of Finance Institutions. Anyone from Bellbrook, Germantown, Miamisburg, Washington Township, German Township, Miami Township, West Carrollton, Sugarcreek Township, Centerville, Kettering or Butler County may become members of the credit union.

Maine CUs Help End Hunger

WESTBROOK, Maine-Maine credit unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger raised $9,000 for the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which serves all of Maine's hunger organizations.

CU Alliance Promotes Non-Violence

SAN DIEGO, Calif.-In an effort to help teach school children how to resolve conflicts without violence, the Credit Union Alliance of San Diego has teamed with the San Diego Mediation Center in support of the Day of Dialogue workshops at 5 area schools. The event aims to inspire people to talk, to persuade them to listen, and teach how to manage every conflict through safe and open discussions.
