APGFCU Celebrates 20 Years

ABERDEEN, Md.-The APG Federal Credit Union celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Aberdeen branch, and recognized five original employees who opened the branch 20 years ago and continue their careers there today.

LCUL Awards Marketing Efforts

BATON ROUGE, La.-The Louisiana Credit Union League awarded credit unions with excellence in marketing awards. The best newsletter was awarded to Geismar Complex FCU, Lafayette Schools' FCU, and Carter FCU. The best annual report was awarded to UNO Federal Credit Union, Lafayette Schools' FCU, and Baton Rouge Telco FCU. The best website was awarded to Louisiana Central CU, PPG Employees CU, and Carter FCU.

In additional news, Louisiana credit unions raised more than $54,000 for the Credit Union Legislative Action Committee.

CCUF To Build Spiritual Center

PINEHURST, N.C.-The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation has pledged to build a spiritual center at the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

WPCCU Holds Home Run Derby

GRANADA HILLS, Calif.-The North Valley Youth Baseball League players received education IRA accounts in the Water and Power Community Credit Union's Home Runs-4- College competition derby. More than 100 children participated in the event, which awarded 24 college scholarships.

SWCFCU Holds Appreciation Dinner

WEIRTON, W. Va.-Steel Works Community Federal Credit Union held an appreciation dinner to honor employees reaching milestones. Awards were presented to Lorna Meador, Karen Truax, Susan Barr, and Paula Morrison.

PFCU Pledges $50,000 To College

TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, N.J.-The lobby of the new technology education center on the campus of Bergen Community College will be named after Paragon Federal Credit Union, in appreciation for its $50,000 pledge to support Bergen Community College students.

SAFE CU Sponsors Rock Concert

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-SAFE Credit Union sponsored a concert and community festival, which featured Hootie and the Blowfish and Macy Gray. In between performances, the credit union selected Colleen Edwards to come on stage and enter a cash cube, where she grabbed bills out of a hurricane of cash swirling inside a see-through chamber.

DULUTH, Ga.-Georgia Central Credit Union sponsored a network security seminar, which included discussions on cyber-crime, viruses, and intrusion detection.

MCUL Awards Students Scholarships

WESTBROOK, Maine-The Maine Credit Union Movement awarded more than $100,000 in scholarship money to help hundreds of Maine high school graduates pursue a higher education. The amounts of scholarships awarded by Maine's credit unions ranged from $250 to $10,000.

Tenn. CU Chapter Honors Brennan

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-The Middle East Tennessee Chapter of Credit Unions hosted a roast honoring Bob Brennan for his 30 years with CUNA.

NEFCU Awards 70 Scholarships

WESTBURY, N.Y.-Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union awarded a total of $35,000 to 70 graduating seniors who attended Nassau County public and private schools. In addition, the credit union awarded $2,000 to four seniors related to members, regardless of where they attended school.

GHCU Sells 400 Lobsters For CMN

LANSING, Maine-Financial Health Credit Union sold Maine lobsters with all proceeds donated to the Children's Miracle Network. FHCU sold 400 lobsters and presented a check to CMN for $4,050.

Idaho CUs Support Community

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho-Employees from Beehive FCU, East Idaho CU, Idaho Falls Teachers FCU, Potelco United CU, and Scenic Falls FCU recently raised more than $2,000 during the 16th Annual Scenic River Run to benefit The Development Workshop, which provides services for individuals with disabilities in Eastern Idaho.
