WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Compliance CUSO COMPASS 4 CUs LLC is celebrating its five-year anniversary this month with a modern twist — YouTube videos and hashtags.
COMPASS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of $326 million Belvoir Federal Credit Union, also based here, noted it had just two full-time employees in its first year of existence, and provided compliance services to six credit unions. Today, it employs five full-time compliance experts, serves 24 credit union clients, and provides consultation services and training to numerous state leagues and associations nationwide.
Gaye DeCesare, president and CEO of COMPASS, said in a prepared statement, "Regulatory compliance continues to evolve and grow, much like COMPASS itself. Every day presents a new challenge for credit unions and we stand ready to help them understand and overcome these challenges. Interestingly enough, the Dodd-Frank Act was signed into federal law around the same time we launched COMPASS, which confirmed our belief that compliance assistance would always be necessary."
