PURCHASE, N.Y. - (11/15/05) -- MasterCard International announcedMonday the release of a card design system that will allow issuersto offer consumers and small businesses the ability to create theirown unique credit, debit or prepaid cards. The MasterCard CardCustomization Service will allow cardholders to upload a personalimage, customize the look of the card using simple editing tools,and submit a final design for approval to their credit union orbank. Cardholders will be offered the option of customizing theircards on the issuer's website. The customization functionality willbe provided via a portal to a MasterCard-hosted site. The imageswill be accepted or rejected based on guidelines set by MasterCardand its issuer.
