Cops Can't Reel In 'Fishing Hat'Bandit

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. - (12/06/04) -- The state's most prolific bankrobber--known as the Fishing Hat Bandit for his choice ofheadgear--struck Friday. The robber, who appears to favor creditunions, is believed to have held-up Minnesota Building Trades FCU,his 22nd robbery, 16 of which have been credit unions. But thistime the thief was wearing a baseball cap instead of his trademarkfishing hat, police said. Still, the bandit matches the descriptionof the Fishing Hat Bandit--a man about 50-years-old, approximately6'1" and weighing 170 pounds with a slim build. Among the creditunions the bandit has robbed are: Minnesota's CU, HighgroveCommunity FCU (twice), Retail Employees CU, Teacher FCU, Twin CityCo-Op FCU, St. Paul Retail CU, Minnesota Building Trades FCU andCity-County FCU (twice).
