HOUSTON – Police were searching last night for as much as $300,000 that went missing from their own credit union, Houston Police FCU.
The branch manager discovered the missing from the vault during a routine audit, according to police. Detective were questioning employees at the site yesterday and scheduling polygraph tests.
The $300 million credit union has about 25,000 members, most of them police or their family members.
Gas prices are rising as a large swath of consumers are already under pressure, which could eventually affect demand for credit.
The share of American households considered "financially vulnerable" rose to 17%, the highest level since at least 2018, according to the nonprofit Financial Health Network.
The bank was determined, by multiple industry rankings and experts, to be the best mobile banking provider in the U.S.. Bank of America took second place.
