Cops Hunt ‘Stick Figure Bandit’

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Authorities yesterday were searching for a tall, thin robber who held up a SchoolsFirst FCU branch here, which may have been his seventh heist in the area in recent weeks.

The so-called “Stick Figure Bandit” held up a credit union branch inside a Stater Bros. supermarket just before its 6 p.m. closing. He displayed a handgun in the waistband of his pants and stated that if they didn’t give him money in 20 seconds, he would start shooting, according to police.

The skinny bandit also is suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo branch in a Stater Bros. store in Placentia last Thursday, and as many as five or six other local institutions inside supermarkets, police said.
