DALLAS - (07/18/06) John Arnold, who builtSouthwest Corporate FCU into one of the nations largestcorporate credit unions, died Monday morning after suffering amassive heart attack July 11 while working at his farm inLouisiana. Arnold, 74, was the first president and CEO of SouthwestCorporate at its 1974 inception and served in that role until 1994,culminating a 31-year career in credit unions. He started hiscredit union career as part-time manager of ADA CU in 1963; thenserved as manager of Monsanto Chocolate Bayou FCU from 1965-1973,before working briefly as vice president at the Texas CU League. Healso served in many volunteer capacities, with U.S. Central CU, theWorld Council of CUs, and the Texas League. Among his survivors arehis son, Mark Arnold, who is vice president of Neighborhood CU inDallas.
