GREENWICH, Conn. – A woman and her husband last week were charged with siphoning more than $62,000 from a Greenwich Municipal Employees FCU account belonging to a teenage family member.
The money, which the teenager received after a car accident, allegedly was used to pay for household expenses, including rent, groceries and an Xbox Live video game subscription, according to charges against Gail Citron and Robert Citron.
Greenwich Probate Court gave Gail Citron access to the account – which contained about $90,000 – to pay for the teen’s medical bills. Court records show on 45 separate occasions money was transferred to the credit union account of Robert Citron. The teenager told police she was unaware of the transfers.
Robert Citron has pleaded guilty to fourth-degree larceny. He has received a one-year suspended sentence and two years of probation.
