BALTIMORE - A federal judge here dismissed a wrongful arrest suit for an armed robbery at Spectrum FCU, in nearby Frederick, that he did not commit.
The Judge Andre Davis ruled that police didn’t violate James Jones’s federal constitutional rights when they arrested Jones for the robbery of the credit union in August 2006. Jones spent almost four months in jail awaiting trial before another man confessed to the robbery.
The judge acknowledged that Jones suffered because of erroneous eyewitness accounts and other mistakes made by witnesses, but ruled that police had probable cause to arrest Jones based on what witnesses said.(c) 2008 The Credit Union Journal and SourceMedia, Inc.
