AUSTIN, Texas - (12/22/04) -- A serial robber dubbed the CowboyBandit, who held up Travis County CU and seven area banks earlierthis year, has roped his last steer. Ernest Rodriguez, Jr., namedfor his choice of headgear during robberies, was sentenced Tuesdayto 10 years in prison for robbing eight area credit unions andbanks earlier. Rodriguez was also ordered to pay $40,322 inrestitution, including $11,660 to Travis County CU, which heheld-up last March. Rodriguez was arrested in April during anundercover sting operation in which police staked out several areabanks believing he would return.
