The Wichita Eagle did a story about Mid American Credit Union, Catholic Family Federal Credit Union and the Wichita branch of America's Christian Credit Union sharing branches. Marilyn Wells, Catholic Family Federal's president, said it's the only branch expansion option for her 4,000-member, $21.9-million institution. Mid American also has arrangements in place with Central Star Credit Union and First Choice Credit Union to do shared branching. "Once we can get this rolling a bit... this thing is going to start snowballing," added Wells.
The Daily Transcript of San Diego did a profile of USA FCU CEO Mary Cunningham that noted how her leadership doubled the CU's membership to more than 61,000 worldwide and more than $700 million in assets. Only 20% of members live in San Diego, so USA FCU has branches in California, Nevada, Japan and Korea, making the pace of electronic delivery and service a priority. "Some of us get lucky in life in that we land in a position that not only brings home the bacon, but one we are truly passionate about," said Cunningham about her job.
The Bergen Record ran a piece on CEO Lourdes Garcia positioning Totowa-based North Jersey FCU for growth by expanding its branch locations and looking to tap into the burgeoning Hispanic population. "What I like about Bergen County is that it's a larger county [than Passaic], and there are underserved markets not being served by the big banks," she said. The CU shares space with a Latino non-profit community service group, La Casa de Don Pedro, in Newark, N.J.
