Bank Net 360 ran a story about the Illinois state treasury office pledging $1.7 million in the form of 12-month loans of $100,000, at 3.5% interest, to credit unions serving designated low-income communities.

WRAL.com in Raleigh, N.C. did a brief on how CUs offer "some of the best deals around on car loans, home-equity loans and others, and it's become easier to avail yourself of these great opportunities than it used to be."

IT Business Edge.com ran a story about NCUA's consideration of imposing Sarbane-Oxley-like auditing regulations on credit unions. The article questioned such a move, given that the SEC is in the process of softening the rules on for-profits.
