Credit Unions In The Media

WOODLAND, Calif. - Yolo Federal Credit Union was featured in the Biz Journal after it was awarded a federal grant to help home shoppers become homeowners. Coverage explained who is eligible for the grants, and quoted CEO Clyde Booker, as saying "Providing low- and moderate-income individuals and families the chance at realizing their dream of homeownership is a high priority for us." Low-income members can apply for up to $15,000 in matching grant funds for the downpayment and closing costs to purchase a home in the county.

DOVER, Del.-Credit unions were given a promotional plug in the Delaware News Journal in a Q&A with a columnist on consumer issues. A reader asked writer George Fitzgerald, "Are those places that say they help you manage and reduce credit card debt and interest rates credible and if so what type of fees would they charge?" Fitzgerald said the answer varies, and that some of those places are frauds, but added, "Credit unions (members) enjoy lower banking fees and favorable interest and loan rates. Also many CUs take the financial education of their member-owners very seriously."
