Credit Unions In The Media

GREAT FALLS, Mont.-CUs were included as part of a story in the Great Falls Tribune about the increase in postage rates. First Liberty CU was quoted as saying the postage boost to 41 cents mail will have an affect. "This increase will cost our small branches in other towns more because they don't have access to that service," LeAnn Lashley, of First Liberty Credit Union, told the Great Falls Tribune. Lashley told the newspaper the CU has been exploring methods to provide statements via e-mail.

CHICOPEE, Mass.-A donation of $23,000 by Aldenville CU was profiled in the Republican. The credit union provided the funds to cover the purchase of a thermal imaging camera and an automatic cardiopulmonary resuscitation machine. The newspaper reported that a demonstration of the thermal imaging camera took place at the credit union. "We wanted to do something that benefited the city as a whole," the newspaper quoted CEO Daniel R. Zajchowski.

EDMONTON, Alberta-The Edmonton Sun featured the "Should've, Could've, Would've" loan sale from Servus CU. The story compared the five-year 5.99% rate with competitor's personal loan rates of 6% and 6.75% and competing unsecured personal loans for between 7% and 9.5%. To qualify for the CU's special rate, consumers must purchase life and disability insurance on the loan.
