CU Board Member (And Congressman) At Confab

More than 700 people turned out for the Maine league's annual meeting here and heard remarks from members of Congress, NCUA and the state's governor.

Rep. Mike Michaud, who holds the distinction of being the only credit union board member who also serves in Congress, told the group, "What Maine's credit unions do for Maine people is not only appreciated, but essential."

NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar keynoted the meeting and observed, "Maine's credit unions have the trust of their members and that is an attribute that they have worked hard to achieve and that we, as the regulator, respect."

In his remarks, Gov. Baldacci recognized the positive, long-term relationship that he has had with Maine's credit unions from his time in the Maine Legislature to his tenure in Congress and now as Governor. "I am a proud credit union member and appreciate the support of Maine's credit unions and their members throughout my political career," Baldacci said.
