JAY, Me. – Credit union members are mourning last week’s passing of Roderick Perry, a charter member of Otis (Air Force Base) FCU, at 97.
Perry was a member of the Maine CU League’s Founders’ Club, and served on the board of the now $125 million credit union from 1954 until 1993, after which time he was appointed Honorary Director.
Perry remained active in the credit union until his death by still attend¬ing monthly Board meetings and studying the financial reports thoroughly. In 2011, Perry spoke on behalf of the credit union in a TV news story that aired statewide highlighting the credit union’s bonus dividend.
Also passing away last week was Joseph Antonio “Tony” Poirer, a member of the Oxford FCU board for 51 years, including 43 years as chairman.
