CU Loot Finances Shopping Spree

A local man accused of robbing Forum CU of as much as $250,000 used the money in the days immediately afterwards to put a down payment on a Cadilac, buy a flat screen TV, bedroom furniture and other luxury items. But police are still searching for more than $200,000 allegedly stolen by William Beeler.

The 44-year-old suspect was arrested in the 1997 Cadilac Deville authorities said he bought hours after he bound employees at the credit union and emptied out the teller drawers and the vault.

Authorities recovered the car, the TV, a DVD player and $1,2000 cash during a search of Beeler's home after his arrest. They also found receipts for furniture and other items he had bought but had not yet been delivered.
