KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A man who held up First Choice Community CU Monday afternoon and made off with a pile of cash didn’t get very far – because his getaway car ran out of gas down the street.

The suspect handed the teller a demand note, but did not show a weapon. He then left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Less than 10 minutes later, he was captured in his vehicle with the gas gauge on empty. The stolen money was found in the car.
The robber was identified as 44-year-old Richard Wright.
