CU Sponsors Forum For Mayoral Candidates

Denver Community FCU and the Colorado league co-sponsored the Denver Mayoral Forum at Denver Community's offices in downtown Denver.

Seven mayoral candidates participated in the 90-minute forum before 15o people. Six of the seven acknowledged the role credit unions have on the city's economic development. Two candidates who served in the state legislature praised the high level of interest and commitment from credit union members in response to different legislative issues during their tenure. Candidates shared views on the Denver economy, budget and transportation before the city elections last week.

"We are excited about the enthusiastic turnout for the Denver Mayoral Forum and look forward to sponsoring similar meetings in key Colorado cities for the 2004 elections for state, congressional and presidential candidates," said Carla Hedrick, chairman of the Colorado Credit Union League.

Local television network affiliates covered the meeting on the evening news and included KCNC TV News 4, a CBS affiliate, and KWGN, the CNN local news affiliate that is also part of both the WB2 Network and WGN, the Chicago Tribune's flagship station. The Rocky Mountain News, the only Denver newspaper published on Saturday, gave extensive coverage to the event.
