CU veteran Bill Kennedy takes the helm at HUD FCU

William Kennedy has been named the president and CEO of HUD Federal Credit Union, succeeding Lee Hancock, who is retiring after 33 years of service.

Kennedy is a veteran of the movement, having served a number of credit unions in a variety of positions over the years. He comes to HUD FCU from Congressional FCU, where he was manager of finance and accounting. Prior to that he was CFO at Department of the Interior FCU and Jersey Shore FCU, and has been a CEO at other credit unions.

“Mr. Kennedy is an experienced credit union leader with a strong finance background,” Marvin Turner, chairman of HUD FCU, said in a statement. “We look forward to HUD FCU’s next chapter under Bill’s leadership and his mission to constantly deliver first-class service to our members.”

The outgoing CEO Hancock stated “I am leaving HUD in very capable hands with Bill.”

HUD posted net income of about $64,000 last year, after incurring a net loss of almost $197,000 in 2015.
