CU Whales Swallow More Minnows

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA said it approved several more giant credit unions to acquire tiny credit unions – an accelerating pace of the large consuming the small.

Among the mergers approved were: Founders FCU, Lancaster, S.C. ($1.4 billion) with Winthrop FCU, Rock Hill, S.C. ($5 million); Texans CU, Richardson, Texas ($2 billion) with Central Dallas CU ($200,000); TruMark Financial CU, Trevose, Penn. ($950 million) with Local 98 IBEW CU, Philadelphia ($9 million) and Pennsylvania State Employees CU, Harrisburg, Penn., ($2.9 billion) and Rite Aid Employees CU, Camp Hill, Penn. ($2.3 million).

The Pennsylvania credit union giant has applied to regulators to acquire GF Employees CU, a $3 million credit union also based in Harrisburg.
