CU Journal asked CUNA Technology Council Conference attendees: What is on your technology wish list? What technology would you add to your credit union and why?
We need a better way to sell and deliver mortgage loans... We do a lot of mortgage business, but all of the documents have to be mailed. Our members, especially the firefighters, want simplicity. Even completing an application-they want us to do it. The vision is: technology that makes the entire mortgage process all online, all easy, a painless process.
I would like something more interactive...such as voice recognition, improving the Web experience or mobile banking. My wish is: no matter where the member is, he or she can link to us and get information. And it is very easy to use. And it is completely secure and never down!
I want one-to-one membership relationship marketing. The system would know, based on transaction behavior and date of birth, what product the member is most likely to use... From a marketing perspective, it is increasingly difficult to get in front of members. This technology would let us get an ad in front of them before they go somewhere else to look for it.
E-signature, which allows delivery of loan documents via e-mail and acceptance of a digital signature. It makes it so the members never have to come into the branch-they would apply online, sign online, and we would deliver online.
An improved Internet portal that allows all departments to maintain their own procedures in one place. It would allow everyone to see what everyone else is doing. Someone in another department could look in and figure out how to do things.
