CUNA Pac Gives $90K To Campaign Committees

CUNA said its political action committee contributed $90,000 to the campaign committees for both the Republican and Democratic parties in January, representing the trade group's annual contribution of the maximum annual donation to each party affiliate.

Checks of $15,000 each went to the Republican National Committee, Republican Senate Campaign Committee, Republican Congressional Campaign Committee, Democratic National Committee, Democratic Senate Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, making a total of $180,000 donated by CUNA to the two parties for the 2003-204 elections.

CUNA also sent contributions to: State Rep. Kenny Marchant, a Republican running for 24th House district in Texas who sponsored last year's credit union reform bill ($10,000); Rely On Your Beliefs (ROYB) Fund, the leadership PAC run by House Majority Whip Roy Blunt, (R-MO), $5,000; Charlie Dent, a Republican state senator running for Pennsylvania's 15th House district; and Alice Forgy Kerr, a Republican running for the special election in Kentucky's sixth House district ($5,000).

CUNA's PAC raised $72,225 and spent $151,634, leaving it with $630,940 in cash at the end of January.
