CUNA Promises Unique Meeting With Future Forum

CUNA has announced an overhaul to both the name and content of its annual Symposium. The meeting has been renamed the Future Forum, and "will bring credit unions a more forward-looking conference that makes greater use of interactive sessions and opportunities for credit union leaders to share their views and opinions," according to CUNA. The conference is scheduled for Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 in Reno, Nev.

"We recognize credit union executives and board members are very busy, and if they're going to take time away to attend a conference, it has to be worth their while," said CUNA President and CEO Daniel A. Mica.

Todd Spiczenski, AVP of learning events for CUNA's Center for Professional Development (CPD), added, "People have seen the talking heads on stage and have gone through the traditional exhibit hall. Well, we're blowing that model up! "

According to CUNA, the Future Forum will include:

* The CU Sound Off, which will allow attendees to discuss and share their thoughts on the issues of the day.

* A repeat of the National Issues Forum that debuted at the 2002 Symposium.

* A "Marketplace" that will showcase a full functioning credit union branch of the future, plus other exhibitors.

"Creation stations," which will provide attendees with hands-on experiences to "test drive" products and services.

Regional luncheons that will offer more focused networking and idea-sharing opportunities, and more.
