CUNA's Mica moves closer to being Million-Dollar Man

WASHINGTON - CUNA reported that its top management received average raises of 5% last year, moving CUNA President Dan Mica to the cusp of a $1 million salary.

CUNA paid Mica $901,000 in 2006, up from $858,000 the year before, and retirement benefits of $71,000-for a total of $972,000. That's almost three times the compensation NAFCU paid its CEO, Fred Becker, who earned $355,000 in 2006, including a $309,000 salary and $46,000 in retirement benefits.

Last year's compensation for other top CUNA executives was: SVP Richard McBride: $398,812 salary and $46,034 retirement benefits-$444,846; SVP John Franklin: $317,648 salary and $56,728 in benefits-$374,376; and General Counsel Eric Richard: $356,571 salary and $38,579 in benefits-$395,150.
