CUSO Is First To Settle Card Customization Patent Infringement Case

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – United Solutions Co., A CUSO owned by five area credit unions and one former credit union, has agreed to license the card customization technology owned by Serverside Group, becoming the first of more than a dozen credit union and bank defendants to settle a patent infringement suit brought in June by the London-based owner of credit card customization patents.

The license will cover all of the CUSO’s 85 credit union customers and any future card customization programs with credit unions.

“We are delighted to have brought this matter to a close and, equally importantly, that we are now able to offer our customers reassurance that they are dealing with a card customization provider that has the necessary rights to offer the service,” said Jim Giacobbe, president of United Solutions Company.

The CUSO is owned by Envision CU, Florida Commerce CU, FOCUS CU, Tallahassee Leon FCU, TMH FCU and Sunshine Saving Bank, a one-time credit union that converted to mutual savings bank.

United Solutions is among a group of credit unions, banks and technology companies sued by Serverside for allegedly infringing on its patent for the popular card customization technology. Among the other defendants are PSCU Financial Services, The Members Group, Anheuser Busch FCU, Credit Union 1, Neighbors CU, Bank Iowa, American State Bank, Eastern Bank, T8 Webware, JHA Payment Processing Solutions and CPI Card Group.
