CANTON, Ohio - (02/28/05) -- Diebold said it has teamed withScanSoft, a leader in speech and imaging solutions, to offerspeech-enabled ATMs. The machines, which are aimed at serving thevisually impaired, will use voice to guide users through theirtransactions. ScanSoft's RealSpeak software will help usersnavigate their transactions, from simple requests like accountbalances, to deposits and cash withdrawals. It will also alert themto any errors that may have occurred during the transaction. Thesoftware will be coupled with Diebold's new Optiva family of ATMs.ScanSoft is based in Peabody, Mass.
